Science Literacy Week

We're turning the library into a science lab! Join us during Science Literacy Week from September 17-23.

Visit the main floor for science-related book displays, science-infused reading and viewing suggestions, and activites for all ages! 

Peak your curiosity in the children's department with fun activities. Explore our mysterious nature display, create magnetic wonders, and see the world in a whole new way at the magnifying station.

These science-fueled activities are available all week long during regular library hours.

Colourpalooza

Colours here, colours there! Colours, colours, everywhere!

Try out interactive stations that encourage you to explore, create, and experiment with many mediums. 

The fun doesn't stop - each participant will get a box of crayons to take home too!

 

Baby Steps

An hour long program for infants and caregivers. This program includes a play time before story time giving families a chance to socialize and interact with one another.  Songs, stories, fingerplays, bounces and play!  

This free, drop-in program will take place in the Program Room and does not require registration.

Please note: Baby Steps will be located in the library auditorium on October 31st.

 

Culture Days: Seed Saving and Bombing

Culture Days is an annual event that brings communities across Canada together to share in free activities and performances. This year, we are celebrating Culture Days in a whole new way with two great events. 

Saturday is seedy! Join the The Local Community Food Centre to learn how to save seeds from your Seed Library plants, then we make seed bombs to throw in an act of guerilla gardening!
 
Free, drop-in program in the Library Auditorium. All ages welcome!

Culture Days: Meet the Composers

Culture Days is an annual event that brings communities across Canada together to share in free activities and performances. This year, we are celebrating Culture Days in a whole new way with two great programs.

Spend Friday with the classics, as music historian Ann Reynolds brings composers and their music to life in an afternoon of light educational entertainment with Beethoven, Mozart and more!

This program is open to all and will be held in the Library Auditorium.

Acorns & Oak Trees

The joy to be discovered through play, songs & stories is not restricted to nor limited by age.  At this intergenerational program children will have the opportunity to interact with new friends, share new experiences and learn new things.

All ages! No registration required!

Pizza FEAST

FEAST stands for “Families Eating And Story Telling Together”. Join us for story time, make your own pizzas, and enjoy live entertainment every Wednesday beginning at 3:30 at the Local Community Food Centre.

This is a free, all ages programs and no registration is required.

FEAST will be held at the Local Community Food Centre, 612 Erie St. [map]

Curious Kids

Kids are curious about a lot of things, and we encourage their curiosity!  Join in this program that will explore many questions, ponderings and imaginative fun.  Through games, songs, stories and tons of excitement, the biggest question at the end of the program will be “What will we think of next?”
