Beanstack Reading Challenges

My eyes hunger to read more books then time allows me to devour.
Jazz Feylynn

What is Beanstack?

Beanstack allows library users to take part in reading challenges.  Some challenges are linked to library programs, some have themes of their own, and some are just for the love of reading!  Many challenges offer draws for users that complete them.  If challenges are not for you, you can also just use it to track your reading and get recommendations in your inbox!

Get Started!

  1. Visit your app store to download the Beanstack Tracker App to your smartphone or device, OR visit https://stratfordlibrary.beanstack.org to use the browser version.
  2. Register yourself for an account. If more than one person in your household is registering for Beanstack (we have challenges for all age groups), create one account for the whole family and then add multiple readers.
  3. Select one of the various challenges available, based on your age. If challenges are not your style, you can still use Beanstack to log what you read.

Can you rise to the challenge to keep reading all year long?  Studies show that just six minutes of reading decreases blood pressure, lowers heart rate, and reduces stress by up to 68%. Just imagine if you read 100 books!  Join fellow readers for a chance to earn badges all year long!

This month is all about helping: self-help, mindfulness, and assisting others. Download the Beanstack app or access the website to complete challenges for a chance to win $100 in local gift certificates. LITTLE READERS IN TRAINING
October 1 - June 30 | Children
Read, learn, explore, grow together. As your child's first and best teacher, it's important to incorporate shared reading into your daily activities. It's easy - complete activities, read together, and earn badges, all while training your little one to fall in love with reading.

MINDFULNESS
Ongoing | Ages 9 - 109
Breathe in. Breathe out. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
Mindfulness is an important skill for all of us to learn, no matter our age. Whether you are just starting your journey or already working on daily mindfulness, this challenge provides easy ways to incorporate self-care into your day.
Many thanks to local mindfulness consultant, Mike Masse, for providing guided meditations.

BOOK A DAY
Ongoing | Children
Make reading a daily habit. By reading even 15 minutes a day, young readers gain confidence, acquire new knowledge, and discover a lifelong love of reading. With this challenge, children can log daily reading minutes to earn great badges.

1000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN
Ongoing | Children
1000 books. 1000 moments. 1000 memories.
Did you know that daily reading increases vocabulary, develops language skills, and deepens the bond between you and your child? Read a book - any book at all - with your little one and record it to earn badges for this challenge.
