MakerSpace: A place to create and share knowledge
Something new for YOUR Library
A MakerSpace is a room filled with tools - both digital and physical - that help people collaborate and learn new skills.
Imagine having access to a 3D printer, video and music editing software, or coding / computer building gadgets like Raspberry Pi and Arduino. Or how about other tools and toys tools like sewing machines, laser cutter, VHS to DVD convertors, robots, Lego and K'Nex. All free, and available to anyone in our community.
In short, a MakerSpace is where people come together to create and share knowledge. Along the way they meet new friends, expand networks, learn new skills, gain confidence and become happier and more engaged citizens.
We don't have to wait for a new library to have a MakerSpace.
Library staff have a fully developed plan to create and house a MakerSpace in an existing main-floor room in our current building. This is no idle dream. With your financial gift, Stratford's MakerSpace can be a reality by the end of 2017.
This project also includes modest renovations to our second floor auditorium. This room hosts almost all of our children, teen and adult programming, and badly needs updated electrics, flooring repairs and new furniture.
With your help, Stratford's library can become an even more powerful force for building community, encouraging lifelong learning and showing the world - once again - that remarkable things happen when Stratford decides to do the impossible. You can support the MakerSpace project any one of six levels and naming opportunities area available. In return and in recognition of the investment required, your contribution will be acknowledged on our donor wall and at a gala reception celebration the new space.
