KIT Cards

There is no problem that a library card can't solve.

Library card in stacks

Knowledge . Information . Technology

PCIN and Huron County Library system have partnered with the Avon Maitland District School Board in a pilot project which will put a public library card in the hands of every student.  A library card will arm students with a reliable source of information while also hoping to build literacy skills and promote a love of reading. All students from kindergarten to grade 12 have been given a library registration form which, once completed, will provide them with a card to access all of the libraries' resources.

About the KIT Cards

  • In 2015, all students received a registration package to fill out at the beginning of the school year.  In 2016, new students or those switching schools will receive a new package.  The registration form and survey are to be returned to the library.
  • If the student already has a library card, their record will be updated and any existing late fees will be forgiven (one time only). This does not apply to lost items.
  • If the student has a lost card, they will be given a new card at no cost (one time only)

With a KIT Card you can...

  • Access thousands of physical resources in the PCIN and Huron County libraries.
  • Access your local library's range of electronic research databases and collections
  • Access thousands of ebooks and digital audiobooks with www.downloadLibrary.ca
  • Individuals with print disabilities have access to the Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA) and a wide range of physical and digital materials. Ask us how!
  • Educators are invited to have their local library come and present about all the resources now available to the students with their KIT Cards.
