Harry Potter & the Stratford Adventure

But you know, happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light. ― Albus Dumbledore.

The followers of He Who Must Not Be Named (going by the name Deatheaters), have decided that Stratford is the perfect place for their new base of operations. They have been all over town, spreading the evil magic of the Dark Arts and setting up magical traps for any who would try to defeat them. The Canadian Ministry of Magic has tasked YOU to stop them. You will need to go to specific places in Stratford where the Deatheaters have been sighted. Once at the locations, the Deatheaters' traps will require your knowledge, training, and magic to dismantle their plans one challenge at a time. Use good magic to defeat evil and save Stratford before it's too late!

An example of the Harry Potter and the Stratford Adventure challenge sign

Every week (May 21-May 30; May 31-June 6; June 7-June 13) will feature FIVE different challenges for you to complete at various spots around Stratford. The challenges are marked with a large sign labelled Harry Potter and the Stratford Adventure.

The beginning of the week will feature a clue video that points you in the general direction of the five challenge locations for that week -- based on intelligence from the Canadian Ministry of Magic. You are welcome to go to those areas to scout out the challenge signs whenever you are ready. Then, shorter clue videos will be shared throughout the week for specific sites where the challenges are located. You can access the videos on this webpage as the information becomes available from the Ministry of Magic or follow our taskforce on Instagram @SPL.ignite. You can also just wander around Stratford to see if any challenge sightings catch your eye.

Once a week has ended, the five challenges will vanish. Then, there will be five new challenges in five new locations around town.

To complete the challenges, you must follow the details on the sign. Each challenge is different since the Deatheaters want to make this as difficult as possible. You might be asked to unscramble a word or take a picture of something important. You will want to keep your Muggle cellphone with you while you complete the challenges to keep track of your progress.

Completed challenges need to be sent to our taskforce Instagram @SPL.ignite by direct message. You can also email completed challenges to the Ministry of Magic's Lead Auror, Brooke Windsor at

You must social distance (six feet away) from other players outside your social bubble when playing Harry Potter and the Stratford Adventure. This rule means that you might have to wait to access a challenge sign, but it is for everyone's safety.

Please continue to wear a mask when playing the game as well.

Please be nice and considerate to others when playing.

Many local businesses of Stratford have kindly allowed us to put these challenge signs in their exterior windows. Even though you will be outside the business, it is important to be polite to people who are trying to access the business's services and to the business's workers. If a local business reports an individual or a group being problematic, the individual or group will be immediately banned from the game.

If we want to play a game like this again, we will need local businesses to allow us permission for the signs. They might not let us use their location again if players are becoming a problem. Be kind to your fellow witches and wizards as well as the magical businesses of Stratford!
