You gotta get the card.

While the library is CLOSED due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, please register for a card online.

Who can apply for a Library Card?

Any resident of Stratford, St. Marys, Perth East, West Perth, Perth South or North Perth may obtain a Stratford Public Library Card FREE of charge.

Your library card is a permanent card, renewable biyearly, and must be brought to the library every time you wish to borrow materials or use the public Internet.

Thanks to the Perth County Information Network, your Stratford Library card allows you to borrow items from the St. Marys, North Perth (Listowel, Monkton and Atwood) West Perth (Mitchell), and Perth East (Milverton) public libraries.

In order to access your library account online, place a hold, or to download ebooks or audiobooks, you will need a PIN. The library has assigned you a PIN and it is the last 4 digits of your phone number. You can change your PIN in the online catalogue.

Do not give out your PIN, as doing so may permit access to information on your library account.

Renewing Your Library Card

Every two years, your library card will need to be renewed. You can renew by visiting the library or calling 519-271-0220 during business hours.

To see when your library card expires, log into your library account in the catalogue, then click on "My Settings" in the top right corner.

Lost or Stolen Cards

If your card is lost or stolen, report it immediately to the Library. You are responsible for anything borrowed on your card. To receive a replacement card, you will be asked to show identification, and pay a $3.00 replacement charge.

Educator Cards

Any educator currently working at an education facility in Perth County is eligible for an Educator Card.  This includes K-12 classroom teachers in public and private schools, daycare center instructors and homeschoolers. Full details on Educator cards.

Reciprocal Borrowing

Reciprocal borrowing allows library customers from participating communities to receive borrowing privileges at our location. Communities included in this agreement are Oxford County, Huron County, Region of Waterloo, and Wellington County.

Residents of those communities are welcome to get a Stratford Public Library card by coming in with a piece of identification with their address (ie. driver's license, age of majority card). Stratford Public Library cardholders can also go into any of these libraries with their identification and obtain a library card at that location.
